All back line will be provided for vocals, drums, bass and guitar. If you wish to bring along other small amps this is fine, but lets keep it sensible....it isn't Wembley!

"MyBand"

We are soon to pilot a new scheme aimed at giving players a chance to work with other musicians of any age, by forming a band, rehearsing together under the eye of a qualified assistant and then culminating in a live graduation gig at a Brighton venue in front of a crowd made up of friends and family. The courses will run over 6 weeks .

More details to follow!!

MyBand is a new website soon to be launched in the UK and MusoNet Brighton (Badlands Guitars) will be a contact portal and organiser for the scheme. We will be working on various schemes along side David Courtney, of the White Room / Talk Sport radio.

BAND CLINICS.

The highly respected figure in the music industry and fellow Brightonion, David Courtney will soon be launching a site aimed to help and support players unfamiliar with aspects of the music industry. For a one off set fee players can consult directly with David via mail and tap into his wealth of experience and get the upper hand through sound advice.
This service is priceless and we will be advertised on the MusoNet site as soon as it is running.

In conjunction with the scheme, Badlands will offer a "live clinic" for young bands. This is based on the Best of Brighton Bands judging format, aimed at offering guidance to bands/performers and help them to improve their profile.
This will take the format of a "mini" gig at a studio, whilst being scrutinised. Advice will be offered in a   consultation after the performance and subsequently, a written report issued to the artists with tips and pointers. This will include comments on stage performance, appearance, attitude, promotion, what promoters expect from a band, plus more,   all making up a valuable package and useful tool to progress working acts.

Heat 1  - was a great event, good bands, good atmosphere and the bar has been set at a good height for the upcoming bands to aim for. Turn out on the night was quite low and although this is far from the only criteria within  the scoring it can add a few valuable points to the overall score so a little more effort could pay dividends.

Heat 2  - another great demonstration of how lucky we are to live in Brighton!! Such talent and enthusiasm was great to witness. Two Choices kicked things off with a solid, well polished rock set followed by those cheeky youngsters "Les Oeufs", then things got considerably darker!! A real dual between Lithurgy and TMI had heads a bangin' and a spectactular stage performance to end the night!!
Personally I could choose all bands, so thank goodness we have some well balanced judges helping out!!
Once again very well done to all of the bands, you should all be proud of your performances.

Heat 3 -  this was a huge night!! The PP was sold out with over 200 packed into the venue and a very supportive crowd too, the atmosphere was maintained from start to finish of the entire event, so very well done to all the bands for excellent self promotions. 4 very entertaining bands had the judges in a spin a mix of the raw & unusual sound of GJG, the amazing vocals from Adhora with solid guitars backing things up, the manic antics from Alarums front man with FX-a -plenty ending with Paris Bianco, a real sound of summer band with great local support, who will clearly do well in Brighton. From Suzy & I ,we want to say very well done for a great show and just remember those bands that do not get to the top 4 have still done exceptionally well to get to the top 16 and we will be promoting all the bands where possible!

Heat 4 - This was a fitting climax to the 4 heats with some very solid performances and musical talent coming to the fore, a big crowd once again who got behind the bands and made for a very enjoyable atmosphere, once again well done to the bands for your own promotion and pulling a very good crowd. The heat was kicked of with the eclectic music mix from Mono, followed by the punchy Left Hand Red with hooks a plenty in the tunes, a great modern twist on punk up next with raw yet clever Your Army, all ending with a band that leave you stunned and wanting more, the highly technical and energetic Stealbackyourlife.

THE FINAL!! - OK we now have the 4 finalists and what looks to be the gig of the year lined up, please note tickets (£3) are only on the door and are on a 1st come basis, the venue holds 210 capacity. Please note doors are from 7:30!!! The 4 bands have reached this stage through the scoring criteria given and now have a new challenge ahead. They will all need to look to pulling something special out of the bag on the night, maximum promotion and support will help plus stage performances to impress the judging panel. The final will be a level playing field with previous scores not being taken into account. All finalist start even and may the best band win...good luck to you all, and thank everyone for the fantastic support of this Badlands Guitars / MusoNet event so far.

Scoring takes in communication skills, teamwork, timekeeping/punctuality, local support, musical ability, stage performance and the "extra" factor.
Scoring is conducted by experienced judges with expertise in many fields of the music industry. The judges decisions are final and not open to debate.
Total scores are out of 100 with different weighting applied to the elements scored.
